AFA Teens Awareness College Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Alzheimer's Foundation of America
AFA's Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Scholarship Essay Contest is an annual competition for college-bound high school seniors. Applicants are asked to write a 1,200 to 1,500-word essay that describes the impact of Alzheimer's disease on themselves, their families or their communities, and what they have learned in light of coping with the brain disorder. The grand prize winner receives $5,000, with additional prizes awarded for runners up.
AFA's teen division was founded in 2002, by a teenager, to help educate and support teens whose lives have been impacted by Alzheimer's disease, as well as those who are interested in getting involved in the cause.
Today, as the incidence of Alzheimer's continues to rise in line with the growth of our aging population, an increasing number of teens are finding themselves in a caregiving role. AFA Teens is here to help them navigate the challenges and triumphs that await.
