Herman J. Smith Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by National Housing Endowment
Herman J. Smith, a builder and developer in Tarrant County, Texas, and surrounding areas, served his local, state, and National Association of Home Builders as President during his lifetime. He was inducted into the National Association of Home Builder’s Housing Hall of Fame in 1987. His philanthropic contributions throughout the years benefited his church, his community, his industry, and his peers. His dedicated leadership and his exemplary life will remain as an inspiration to all those lives he touched during his lifetime. In keeping with his favorite motto, “always leave the woodpile higher than you found it,” the Herman J. Smith/National Housing Endowment Scholarship fund commemorates this outstanding Texas legend and honors his lifelong commitment to both the housing industry and to the education of future generations of home builders.
