Massachusetts Valedictorial Tuition Waiver

Overview
The Valedictorian Program Tuition Waiver was created to recruit and enroll Massachusetts high school students who have been named valedictorian. It provides eligible valedictorians with tuition waivers applicable at any public institution of higher education in Massachusetts. Since the program’s inception, much of its support has gone to the University of Massachusetts University Scholars Program.
Eligibility
To qualify for a Valedictorian Program Tuition Waiver, an applicant must meet all of the following conditions:
- Be recognized by a Massachusetts public or private high school as the school’s valedictorian.
- Be accepted into and enrolled in a degree program at a public higher education institution in the Commonwealth and satisfy that institution’s specific eligibility requirements for the waiver.
- Have been a permanent legal resident of Massachusetts for at least one year prior to the start of the academic year.
- Not be in default on any federal or state student loans and not owe repayment for previously received financial aid.
- Submit a current-year Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
