Myron D. Kiesling Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Wyoming Community Foundation
Introduction and background
Myron D. Kiesling was born at Teapot Dome in 1925. His father was involved in plugging wells on the Dome in the aftermath of the well-known scandal. In 1927 the family relocated to Newcastle, where his father went on to found the Osage Oil Company. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Myron returned home and joined his father’s business, foregoing a return to formal education. Over the next six decades he was actively involved in community service, including serving on the local hospital board. After selling the business in 2007, Myron established a scholarship to help students from Weston County pursue college, with a particular interest in supporting those who choose engineering and other technical fields.
