Garrison Area Scholarship

Introduction
The Garrison Area Scholarship Fund awards local students financial support to pursue postsecondary education. Originally sponsored by the Garrison Lions and the Garrison Mille Lacs Lakes Lions Clubs, the Fund will provide three scholarships of $1,000 each to qualifying graduating high school seniors.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a high school senior.
- Attend school in one of these districts (or be home-schooled within them): Aitkin, Brainerd, Crosby‑Ironton, or Onamia.
- Plan to enroll full time in a U.S.-based two- or four-year college.
Materials required to complete the four-year online application
You will need the following items to finish the online application:
1. General application questions.
2. Essay — two pages, double-spaced: Reflecting on your past four years, what have you learned from participating in school, community, and work activities? How will you apply those lessons to future opportunities?
3. Statement of Need and Responsibility — a brief description of any personal, family, or life circumstances that affect your need for this scholarship.
4. A list of activities in three categories:
- Community service (civic and church volunteer activities)
- Extracurricular school activities (non-graded school involvement)
- Work experience
5. Electronic transcript — High school applicants must enter their guidance office’s email address into the application at least five days prior to the deadline so the guidance office can upload the transcript before the cutoff.
