VFW Post 5460 Scholarship

Introduction
The VFW Post 5460 Scholarship Fund was established by VFW Post 5460 to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors from the three communities served by the post: Watkins, Eden Valley, and Kimball. Awards will be given to applicants who demonstrate patriotic character.
Who is eligible
- Current high school senior
- Residency/schooling from Eden Valley–Watkins or Kimball
- If the applicant is a Voice of Democracy entrant, the scholarship amount will be $2,000
- Intending to enroll full-time in a U.S.-based college or university, either a two-year or four-year program
Required items to complete the online application
Applicants must prepare and submit the following as part of the online application:
- Application general questions (basic biographical and contact information)
- Essay (1–2 pages, double-spaced): Respond to the following John F. Kennedy inaugural quote — "Ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country." Explain what this statement means to you.
- Statement of need and responsibility: A short description of any personal, family, or life circumstances that affect your financial need for this scholarship
- List of activities separated into: 1) Community service (civic or church volunteer work); 2) School extracurricular activities (non-graded school involvement); and 3) Work experience
Transcript submission
- Electronic transcript: Enter the email address of your high school guidance office into the online application at least five days before the application deadline. This allows your guidance counselor or office staff time to upload your transcript to the application prior to the deadline.
