Extraordinary Scholarship

Introduction
Each year Daniel Stark awards the Extraordinary Scholarship to five Texas high school students who have shown exceptional drive and determination. Selection focuses on applicants’ initiative and impact rather than grades, test scores, background, or personal attributes. Each selected student will receive $1,000 to help cover college tuition.
Who is eligible
- Must be a May 2025 high school graduate.
- Must live or attend school within 60 miles of one of these areas: Bryan/College Station, Waco, Killeen, Austin, or Tyler.
- Must be enrolled or planning to enroll in a post-secondary education program for Fall 2025 at the time the scholarship funds are disbursed.
Application requirements
To be considered, submit the application form (below) along with:
- A 1–2 page essay addressing the prompt below.
- One letter of recommendation from someone who is not a family member.
Essay prompt
Describe how you have shown leadership in an unexpected situation, and explain the effect your actions had on the people around you.
Selection process and award
Recipients are chosen from submitted applications. Five winners will each receive a $1,000 scholarship to apply toward their college tuition.
