Introduction
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary provides scholarship opportunities for sons, daughters, or grandchildren of members as well as for members of the Ladies Auxiliary themselves. Donations can also be made in memory of a departed member or to commemorate milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, or promotions. Students are encouraged to apply for every scholarship for which they qualify.

Who We Are
We are mothers, wives, widows, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, step-daughters, and granddaughters of AMVETS, and female veterans who are currently serving or who have honorably served in the U.S. Armed Forces (including National Guard and Reserve components) at any time after September 15, 1940.
Purpose and Award Information
The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship Grants are designed to recognize financial need and academic achievement, encourage capable candidates to pursue meaningful careers, and reflect the involvement of our membership. Scholarship recipients are selected and awards are presented at the AMVETS Department Convention held in June. At least one scholarship of no less than $1,000 will be awarded; additional scholarships of equal or smaller amounts may be given depending on available funds.
Eligibility
1. Applicant must be a member of AMVETS, AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary, Sons of AMVETS, or be a spouse, child, or grandchild of a member of the AMVETS family.
2. Applicant must be a high school graduate by June 30 of the application year or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a degree.
3. Applicant must be a resident of the State of Michigan.
Application Instructions and Required Documents
All application materials must be completed legibly—please print or type.
1. Complete the provided application form.
2. Include a statement of financial need. If employed (or previously employed), submit a W-2 form.
3. List any financial support provided by parents or guardians.
4. Submit the following documents directly to the Department of Michigan AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship Officer so that they are postmarked no later than May 22, 2026:
- An official high school or college transcript (with raised seal or raised watermark) showing cumulative GPA and total credits, or a notarized high school equivalency certificate with scores.
- If the transcript does not indicate high school graduation, provide a letter on official school letterhead confirming graduation by June 30.
- Note: Self-generated computerized transcripts are not acceptable.
5. If you are a first-year college student, include an acceptance letter from the accredited college or university on official school letterhead.
6. Provide proof of AMVETS family eligibility: a copy of the applicant’s or sponsor’s AMVETS membership card.
7. All application packets must be postmarked to the Department of Michigan AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Scholarship Officer by May 22, 2026.
Judging Criteria
Applications will be evaluated by the Scholarship Committee, chaired by the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary and composed of active members of the AMVETS family organization. Scoring breakdown:
- 40% Financial need (as documented on the application)
- 30% Academic record (official transcripts and explanation of grading system)
- 20% Personal goals and objectives (from the personal data section)
- 5% Volunteer/service activities
- 5% Grammar, spelling, and punctuation
Selection and Payment
Winners will be announced during the AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary Department Convention in June. Scholarship checks will be issued to recipients and mailed within three days after the convention closes.
