Hamman Foundation Scholarships

Overview
Each spring the George and Mary Josephine Hamman Foundation awards seventy (70) scholarships to graduating high school seniors from the Houston area to support undergraduate study. Each scholarship totals $25,000 and is paid out over up to four years (or until the student graduates, if sooner). Award recipients may pursue any major at any accredited four-year college or university in the United States, provided they continue to meet the scholarship conditions.

Who is eligible
- Enrolled high school seniors (applying during their senior year).
- Students who attend schools or are homeschooled within one of these eight Texas counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Liberty, Montgomery, or Waller.
- United States citizens only; applicants who hold only Permanent Resident status are not eligible.
- Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and demonstrated financial need.

Application timing and test-score requirements
- Applications may be submitted during the student’s senior year. Online application forms become available after September 15 of the senior year.
- Do not submit your application until after you have taken the SAT or ACT.
- Applicants must have at least a 1000 SAT composite score (combined Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing) and/or an ACT composite score of 21. All reported SAT and/or ACT scores must come from the same test date.

Selection process and notification
- From the pool of applications, a group of finalists will be chosen and invited to a personal interview. After interviews, applicants will be notified in writing and/or by email whether they have been awarded a Hamman Scholarship.
- If you have not been invited for an interview by March 15, you should assume you are not a finalist; no further correspondence will be sent from the Foundation in that case.
