CISCO is now accepting applications for its Annual Scholarship Awards Program. Application forms may be downloaded online by selecting the appropriate scholarship type from the three categories described below. SCHOLARSHIP CATEGORIES - Four-year scholarships (three awards): Three four-year scholarships of $2,000 per year will be awarded to high school seniors. These awards are intended to support college-bound children of building trades Union members, employees of Union contractors, or children of non-bargaining-unit employees of a Union contractor affiliated with CISCO. DOWNLOAD APPLICATION ONLINE. - Two-year community college/Associate degree awards (two awards): Two awards of $1,000 per year for two years are available to high school seniors who plan to attend a community college or pursue an Associate degree. Eligible applicants must be children of building trades Union members, employees of Union contractors, or children of non-bargaining-unit employees of a Union contractor affiliated with CISCO. DOWNLOAD APPLICATION ONLINE. - Continuing education awards for CISCO members (two awards): Two continuing-education scholarships of $1,000 per year for two years are offered to current CISCO members who are enrolled in an undergraduate program at a community college or a four-year accredited college or university, and who work in the Union building construction trades or are employed by a CISCO contractor. OBJECTIVE To provide financial assistance to CISCO members (working in the trades or employed by CISCO contractors) who are pursuing undergraduate studies at a community college or a four-year accredited college/university. Two scholarships in this continuing-education category will be awarded each year. ELIGIBILITY For the continuing-education (member) awards, each applicant must: 1. Be a member in good standing of a building trades Union that is a CISCO member and/or be employed by a contractor that is a CISCO member. 2. Be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program at a community college or a four-year accredited college or university. 3. Be a citizen of the United States. (Eligibility for the high school senior awards: applicants must be high school seniors and be children of the eligible Union members or contractor employees described in the scholarship category descriptions above.) APPLICATION MATERIALS REQUIRED Each applicant must submit the following: 1. A completed application form compiled into a single PDF file (all pages included). 2. One completed Personal Reference Form completed by a school faculty member, a Union representative, or another adult who is not a relative of the applicant. 3. A copy of an official or unofficial transcript, or other documentation showing current academic grades/records. AWARD TERMS 1. A maximum of two $1,000 continuing-education scholarships will be awarded each year. These awards are renewable once (for a second year) if the recipient maintains at least a 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Each award may be renewed only one time, for a total of two years of funding. 2. CISCO will remit scholarship payments directly to the bursar’s office of the recipient’s college or university. 3. Scholarship funds are restricted to tuition and fees only. 4. All scholarship recipients will be publicly announced at an official CISCO event in the spring. SELECTION PROCESS 1. CISCO retains final authority over scholarship decisions. Recipients will be chosen based on academic performance, faculty recommendation, extracurricular involvement, employment history, and evidence of a productive career path. CISCO may appoint a Selection Committee to make these determinations. 2. Applicants who reach finalist status may be asked to participate in a personal interview with Selection Committee representatives. Only those selected to receive awards will be notified. 3. For continuing eligibility and renewals, grade transcripts must be sent directly to CISCO from the school registrar at the end of each academic period. 4. Scholarship funds must be used within three years of the award date. For example, funds awarded in April 2025 must be expended by April 2028.
