DEADLINE - Applications must be submitted by July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM Pacific Time. Late entries will not be accepted. ELIGIBILITY To be considered for the Annie Ibok Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following: - Be a rising college freshman (recent high school graduates are given priority). - Hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. - Have attended and graduated from a high school located in any county in California or any county in Washington. REQUIRED APPLICATION MATERIALS Each application must include the items below. File names must follow the formats shown. - Completed application form. - One scanned high school transcript, signed by a school official. - Filename: Last_First_Transcript.pdf - One academic letter of recommendation (signed). - Filename: Last_First_LOR.pdf - Signature rules: - If the letter is submitted in digital (not scanned) form, it must include a digital signature. - If the letter is submitted as a scanned document, it must contain a physical (handwritten) signature. - One current resume. - Filename: Last_First_Resume.pdf - One high-resolution headshot (business professional or business casual; no selfies). - Filename: Last_First_Headshot.jpg — .png and .jpeg are also acceptable. - A written response to one essay question (choose one from the list below). Note: Applicants who choose Essay Question 1 will receive preference in award selection. ESSAY PROMPTS (select and answer one) 1) What traits in Annie Ibok do you recognize in yourself, and how will those qualities support your success at your HBCU? 2) Describe the civil or political context at the time and place your HBCU was founded. How does that history relate to your motivation to attend? 3) What does “give back” mean to you? How does that concept relate to your HBCU’s mission, and how do you plan to give back after earning a degree from your HBCU? 4) Historically, HBCUs have expanded access to higher education for underserved and underrepresented students of color. In today’s context, are HBCUs still relevant and necessary? Explain your position. Please double-check that all files follow the required naming conventions and signature instructions before submitting.
