CDGA Foundation Veteran Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Chicago District Golf Association
The CDGA Foundation Scholarship & Grant Program exists thanks to the generosity of annual contributors and legacy gifts from individuals and volunteer organizations who have entrusted their tradition of service through the game to the Chicago District Golf Association.
For 2026, the CDGA and the CDGA Foundation are offering the following scholarship and grant opportunities:
CDGA UVS Swing Club Veteran Scholarship
- Purpose: Supports the dependents of veterans.
- Eligibility: Available to dependents of a veteran — including dependents of veterans who are deceased or disabled — where the veteran resides in or is hospitalized in Illinois or within the Chicago District (Northwest Indiana, Southwest Michigan, and Southern Wisconsin).
CDGA Folds of Honor Scholarship
- Purpose: Ensures families who have sacrificed for their country have access to education and opportunity without undue financial burden.
- Coverage: Supports education from K–12 through higher education.
CDGA IWGA Julia Dodds Scholarship
- Purpose: Provides assistance to young women who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree and who have a strong interest in golf.
- Eligibility and selection: Applicants must be Illinois residents. Selection criteria include Character, Scholarship, Leadership, and Sportsmanship.
- Award amount: $5,000.
CDGA IWGA Grant Program
- Purpose: Offers institutional grants to support women’s golf at the collegiate level.
- Eligibility: Any Illinois public or private higher education institution (two- or four-year colleges) may apply. Administrators of women’s golf programs are encouraged to submit applications following the online guidelines.
CDGA JPGA Walter & Nettie George Speedy Scholarship
- Purpose: Established in partnership with the Jackson Park Golf Association (JPGA) to honor Walter and Nettie George Speedy and their impact on Black golf in the early 20th century.
CDGA Brent Wadsworth Scholarship
- Purpose: Created in partnership with the Wadsworth family to commemorate Brent Wadsworth’s lasting contributions to golf and his commitment to supporting future generations.
