Overview
The North Dakota Veterinary Medical Association Scholarship Fund was created in September 1997 to support North Dakota students pursuing careers in veterinary medicine and to strengthen veterinary education within the state. In 2025, the Fund awarded 14 scholarships, with individual awards ranging from $750 to $1,450. Scholarships are distributed on an annual basis.
How to apply
Visit NDCF.net. Under the Receive tab choose Scholarships, scroll down to Statewide Scholarships, select “ND Veterinary Medical Association Endowment Scholarship,” then follow the prompts to create an account and complete the application.
Eligibility criteria
- Applicants must either have graduated from a North Dakota high school or have been a North Dakota resident for at least two years immediately prior to applying.
- Applicants must be accepted to or currently enrolled in the professional (DVM) program at any AVMA-accredited College of Veterinary Medicine.
- The Fund’s Advisory Committee may give preference to applicants who demonstrate financial need or who express a commitment to return to North Dakota to practice veterinary medicine.
Required materials and submission guidelines
- Type or print legibly. Answer every question to the best of your ability.
- Estimates for financial figures are acceptable.
- First-time applicants: submit a fully completed application and all requested documents by the published deadline.
- Returning applicants: references and residency verification are already on file with NDVMA and do not need to be resubmitted. However, the following items must be provided for the application to be considered:
- Current college transcripts. These may be mailed directly by your school or uploaded; “unofficial” transcripts that can be downloaded from your school’s website are acceptable.
- An updated autobiography detailing your experiences, goals, priorities, and other relevant developments since beginning veterinary school.
- An updated financial information sheet.
