Introduction
The Elmhurst Garden Club promotes study and engagement in fields such as agriculture, agronomy, botany, conservation, ecology, environmental studies, floriculture, forestry, horticulture, land management, landscape design, and sustainability. The Summer York High School Exploratory/Experiential Scholarship is intended to help students pursue a hands-on learning opportunity in one of these disciplines through a structured experience — for example, a summer workshop, camp, experiential program, internship, or college course.
Eligibility
- Applicants must be current freshmen, sophomores, or juniors at York Community High School.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale is required.
How to Apply
- Fill out the Scholarship Application form.
- Place the completed application and all required supporting documents (as listed in the chart below) together in one large envelope and mail to:

Award Amount
- The Elmhurst Garden Club may provide up to $1,000 for each selected recipient.
Selection Process and Timeline
- The Scholarship Committee of the Elmhurst Garden Club will make final selections during the first week of May, 2026.
- Applicants will be informed of the committee’s decisions by email shortly thereafter.
- If chosen, scholarship funds will be sent directly to the program or organization sponsoring the student’s selected experience to cover tuition or program fees.
Recipient Responsibilities
If you receive this scholarship, you agree to:
1. Send or email a Letter of Acceptance to the Elmhurst Garden Club confirming your placement in the chosen program.
2. Attend a meeting of the Elmhurst Garden Club and deliver a brief presentation about the program you attended, describing your experiences and what you learned. You are welcome to bring your parent(s) and may invite teachers.
3. Grant permission for the Elmhurst Garden Club to use your photograph for scholarship publicity.
