DWC Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Dwyer Williams Cherkoss Attorneys, PC
Dwyer Williams Cherkoss Attorneys, P.C., a leading personal injury law firm in Oregon, is offering three scholarships to assist students beginning law school in Fall 2026. These awards are designed to help with first-year costs for individuals who have finished their undergraduate studies and have been admitted to an accredited law school in the United States.
Scholarship amounts (totaling $10,000)
- First place: $5,000
- Second place: $3,000
- Third place: $2,000
Eligibility
To be considered for the DWC Scholarship, applicants must meet all of the following:
- Be a U.S. citizen or possess lawful authorization to work in the United States.
- Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited undergraduate institution in the U.S.
- Have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Have an offer of admission to begin their first year of law school in Fall 2026.
Application materials and deadline
All application materials must be received by June 30, 2026. Required items:
- A completed Scholarship Application Form.
- A typed essay of 1–3 pages. The prompt is open; topics may include personal or family background, notable accomplishments, challenges overcome, community service, aspirations as a future attorney, or any subject of personal importance.
- Complete undergraduate transcripts. Official or unofficial transcripts are acceptable. (If you use transcript services such as Parchment, be aware that access links may expire and could prevent retrieval.)
- Proof of acceptance to an accredited U.S. law school (for example, an official acceptance letter or an admissions email from the school).
- Documentation verifying legal residency/authorization in the U.S. Acceptable documents include a state-issued ID, U.S. passport, birth certificate, or permanent resident card.
- A personal email address (or an address you will have access to in late summer) so DWC can contact finalists and winners.
Award terms and notification
- Scholarship funds must be applied toward law school tuition and other eligible educational expenses.
- Payments will be issued by check directly to the recipients’ law schools.
- Recipients will be required to provide receipts or documentation demonstrating the funds were used in accordance with IRS requirements.
- Winners will be notified on or about August 15, 2026.
