The Charles Hellier III Scholarship is dedicated to supporting students pursuing studies in the field of nondestructive testing (NDT). Established in honor of Charles Hellier III, a pioneer in the NDT community, this scholarship aims to provide financial assistance to aspiring NDT professionals to help them achieve their academic and career aspirations in the NDT field.

Eligibility

Individuals who are enrolled or seeking enrollment in nondestructive testing (NDT) training courses at any US-based school or technical training organization. Training can prepare the individual for entry into the profession or provide them with professional development in NDT.

Selection

The ASNT Foundation’s Board of Trustees will review each application received.

Requirements

After finishing training coursework, scholarship recipients are required to submit a written report covering the following key points:

  • Course Overview: Briefly describe the topics covered in the training program. Highlight any specific modules or subjects that stood out to you.
  • Key Learnings: Outline the main concepts, skills, or knowledge you gained during the coursework. Share any real-world applications or scenarios where you can apply what you've learned.
  • Academic and Professional Growth: Outline the academic and professional skills you have developed during the training. Discuss how these skills align with your academic and career goals.
  • Scholarship Impact: Share how the scholarship has contributed to your ability to participate in the training.

Application

  • Applicants must provide the name of school or training organization where coursework will be completed.
  • Applicants must provide brief description of coursework individual is contemplating enrolling in or is enrolled in.
  • Applicants must provide month and year when they intend to begin training coursework.
  • Applicants must provide month and year when they expect training coursework will be completed.
  • Applicants must submit an original essay (minimum of 500 words) summarizing any previous training or education in NDT, future career goals and how the scholarship will provide an advantage to further career development.
