NEHA/AAS Environmental Health Scholarships

We are pleased to offer the NEHA/AAS Scholarships to qualified undergraduate and graduate students, with the aim of fostering the future of environmental health. The scholarship initiative is designed to inspire students to commit early to a career in the field of environmental health.
Scholarship Details
- A $2,650 scholarship, named after Dr. Sheila Davidson Pressley, will be awarded to one undergraduate applicant.
- One undergraduate applicant will receive the $2,650 Dr. Carolyn Hester Harvey scholarship.
- A $3,750 scholarship will be granted to one graduate student.
How to Apply
The application period for these scholarships will commence on October 1, 2024, and conclude on January 31, 2025.
Application requirements:
- Fill out the online application form
- Include a faculty recommendation letter, your academic transcript (official or unofficial), and an up-to-date resume
- Submit a brief essay outlining your professional goals in environmental health, including your specific career plans in the field. (maximum 1500 characters)
- Submit a second brief essay detailing the contributions you expect to make in environmental health over the next 5 years and how this scholarship would aid you in advancing the profession. (maximum 1500 characters)

Assessment Criteria
The following factors will be considered in the evaluation of scholarship applications:

*Undergraduate applicants have the option to be a member, but it is mandatory for graduate applicants
Who Can Apply
Undergraduate Requirements
Undergraduate applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate institution in the US, US territories, or freely associated states
- Be one of the following:
- Currently studying a recognized environmental health sciences curriculum
- Currently enrolled in a program or coursework that qualifies for the RS/REHS exam
- Be in their junior or senior year of college (having completed at least 60 academic credits) in fall 2025 (Scholarships are paid directly to the institution.)
- Plan to pursue a career in environmental health within the US, US territories, or freely associated states
- The undergraduate scholarship should be used for tuition and fees related to either the junior or senior year of college studies.
Graduate Requirements
Graduate applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this scholarship:
- Be a member of NEHA or a NEHA affiliate
- Currently work in environmental health or plan to pursue a career in environmental health within the US, US territories, or freely associated states
- Be enrolled in an accredited graduate institution in the US, US territories, or freely associated states
- Currently studying a recognized environmental health sciences curriculum
- Be enrolled in graduate courses in fall 2025 (Scholarships are paid directly to the institution)
- Plan to continue a career in environmental health within the US, US territories, or freely associated states
- The graduate scholarship should be used for tuition and fees related to graduate studies.
