Comal County Genealogy Society Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Comal County Genealogy Society (CCGS)
SCHOLARSHIP OVERVIEW
One student will receive a $1,000 scholarship. Payment will be sent directly to the recipient’s college or university.
ELIGIBILITY
This award is available to current 12th-grade students who attend school in Comal County—or who attend a school within Comal ISD or New Braunfels ISD (even if that school lies in a neighboring county). Applicants must plan to enroll in a postsecondary institution after graduating from high school.
PURPOSE
The Comal County Genealogy Society (CCGS) created this scholarship to introduce students to genealogy and encourage exploration of their family history. Submissions are intended to serve as meaningful, living records that family members can continue to add to over time.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must submit both of the following:
- Ancestor (Pedigree) Chart: Complete a four-generation family lineage using an Ancestor or Pedigree Chart. The chart should document names and include birth, marriage, and death dates where known, the places these events occurred, and the sources used to obtain the information.
- Treasured Item Submission: Provide a photograph of a cherished family photograph, heirloom, or historic document you wish to share with the CCGS. Include a written description of the item and a brief statement explaining its personal or family significance.
HOW TO APPLY
The scholarship application and detailed instructions for completing and submitting the materials are available online.
