Overview
Rappahannock Electric Cooperative administers the REC Community Scholarship program annually to support students pursuing further education at colleges, universities, or career and technical schools.
Available awards
- Two scholarships of $2,500 each
- Fifteen scholarships of $1,000 each
Who is eligible
- The applicant’s parent or legal guardian must be a member-owner of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative.
- Applicants must be planning to enroll (or be currently enrolled, where applicable) in an accredited postsecondary institution or an accredited career and technical school.
- A completed, appropriate scholarship application must be submitted by the stated deadline for consideration.
How recipients are chosen
Selections are based on academic performance, participation in extracurricular activities, involvement in the community, and supporting letters of recommendation.
Scholarship categories
- High School Scholarship: for current high school seniors who intend to attend a college or university.
- Career & Technical School Scholarship: for current high school seniors who plan to attend a career and technical school, and for students already enrolled in such programs.
- College Scholarship: for students who are presently enrolled in a college or university.
