Oregon Hunter Jumper Scholar
Scholarship Sponsored by Oregon Hunter Jumper
Every year, the Oregon Hunter Jumper Association (OHJA) grants up to three academic scholarships. These scholarships are open to those who are enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a community college, university, graduate school, or vocational school.
The scholarships are awarded based on the information provided in the application, academic transcripts, and three recommendation letters. Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview with the Scholarship Committee in December. The scholarship winners are announced at the Annual Awards Banquet and Fundraiser, and the funds are directly disbursed to the educational institution chosen by the recipients.
The scholarship amount varies each year, depending on the funds raised. The OHJA depends on donations to the Scholarship Fund to provide these scholarships. If you wish to contribute to the OHJA scholarship fund, please get in touch with the Scholarship Representative.
Applications for the scholarships must be submitted by November 15 each year. We advise applicants to start the application process early to ensure timely completion. All application materials should be sent directly to the Scholarship Representative.
The OHJA awards academic scholarships to its members for further education at an accredited higher learning institution. The selection is based on five criteria, with a total of 100 points available:
- Academic Achievements & Success (15 points)
- Letters of Recommendation (15 points)
- Horsemanship Knowledge & Achievements (15 points)
- Future Goals & Plans (15 points)
- Interview with the Scholarship Committee (40 points)
The Scholarship Committee selects up to three recipients each year based on these criteria. Applicants who have volunteered for the OHJA are particularly encouraged to apply.
