Know Your Rights Scholarship
Scholarship Sponsored by Nieves Law Firm
Introduction
The Nieves Law Firm is deeply committed to criminal defense. We prioritize representing people who are up against difficult circumstances and believe everyone deserves skilled advocacy. With years of experience defending clients, we’ve seen how quickly someone who doesn’t understand their rights can be vulnerable to exploitation during an arrest. That problem is far too common, and we want to help change it.
About the Know Your Rights Scholarship
Established in 2019, the Know Your Rights Scholarship is one way The Nieves Law Firm invests in the next generation while raising awareness about individual rights. When people lack clear information about their rights, they risk making statements or taking actions that could incriminate them during or after an arrest. Through this scholarship, we aim to spark conversation and help educate others about how to protect themselves. One applicant will receive a $1,000 award to use for educational expenses.
Eligibility
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
- Be currently enrolled in an accredited U.S. college or university in an undergraduate, graduate, or law degree program.
- Hold a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- High school seniors may apply only if they are graduating and/or will be enrolled in a college or university by the scholarship deadline.
